Now You Can Talk to Google Search — And It Talks Back

Hi Reader,

Last week after my routine mammogram, I received a notification in my MyChart app that the results were abnormal. (I had my follow up imaging today, and all is fine, thank goodness.)

But I’m sharing this here, in this weekly AI newsletter, because it was AI that saved my sanity during the very long 7 days I had to wait for my new tests.

First of all, the minute I got the results, which were written in medical speak, I didn’t understand a word of it. I copied and pasted it into ChatGPT, which basically translated it for me.

I learned that basically the first image didn’t give them enough information, and they needed more imaging.

But then ChatGPT suggested that it send me messages each day to keep me from falling into a “what if” spiral. Of course, I said yes. Look at this 👇

How amazing is that? ChatGPT sent me a similar sort of reminder each day.

My doctor never called me through any of this, so I was especially grateful to ChatGPT.

Now, on to the AI news…

This week’s AI news shows how fast everyday tools are being transformed. Google Search just became fully conversational with voice-powered follow-ups, Google Photos now lets you edit images just by talking, and Sheets can explain formulas in plain English. ChatGPT rolled out Pulse for personalized daily digests, Notion introduced real AI agents that run tasks on your behalf, and Gemini is now powering everything from your TV to web search to robot hands. There’s a lot happening—and most of it’s already in tools you’re using today.

Big News of the Week

Google Search Adds Live AI Voice Search

You can now talk to Google Search instead of typing. The new live AI voice search understands natural language, remembers context, and lets you ask follow-ups like a real conversation. English first, more languages are coming.

Google Photos Gets AI Editing by Voice or Text

On Android, you can now say or type “brighten this photo” or “remove distractions” and Gemini will edit your pictures instantly. No menus, no advanced editing skills needed.

Gemini AI Is Coming to Your TV

Soon, you’ll be able to ask your TV for recommendations, summaries of shows, or quick clips — powered by Gemini. It turns TV into an interactive assistant instead of just a screen.

Google Sheets Gets Formula Explanations

Hover over a formula, and Gemini will break it down in plain language. A game-changer if you’ve ever struggled to understand or debug complex Sheets formulas.

Gemini Expands Into Robotics + Web Search

DeepMind is training robots with Gemini for more precise real-world tasks and making web search smarter with reasoning-based answers. This shows Google’s push to blend physical and digital intelligence.

New “Thinking Time” Toggle for GPT-5

Now you decide how hard GPT-5 thinks:

  • Plus & Business: Standard (default) or Extended (slower, deeper)
  • Pro ($200/month): Light (fastest), Standard, Extended, Heavy (deepest reasoning) Once set, your preference saves automatically. Rolling out on the web now, mobile soon.

ChatGPT Pulse Delivers Personalized Briefs

Pulse writes you a morning digest based on your projects, interests, and chats. Instead of asking ChatGPT for updates, they’re waiting for you when you log in — saving time and keeping you ahead. (Starting Thursday, OpenAI will roll out Pulse for subscribers to its $200-a-month Pro plan, for whom it will appear as a new tab in the ChatGPT app. The company says it would like to launch Pulse to all ChatGPT users in the future, with Plus subscribers to get access soon, but it first needs to make the product more efficient)

Microsoft Adds Anthropic’s Claude to Copilot

Microsoft is deepening its AI stack by bringing Claude into Copilot alongside OpenAI models. Claude shines at writing, research, and analysis, giving you stronger performance and more flexibility inside Office apps. And honestly, you can never have too much Claude — I love Claude.

Perplexity Adds AI Email Assistant

For $200/month, Max subscribers get an AI assistant for Gmail and Outlook that can:

  • Draft replies in your tone
  • Organize your inbox
  • Schedule meetings via email commands

Your emails stay private — they aren’t used for training.

Notion Introduces AI Agents

Notion now has autonomous AI agents that can:

  • Build pages and databases
  • Draft emails or analyze feedback
  • Pull from Slack, Drive, and Notion
  • Run tasks for up to 20 minutes without input

This turns Notion into more than an organizer — it’s now a real AI teammate.

Ideas & Inspiration This Week

I ran across this post from Michael Hyatt and I had to share it with you:

If you’re a content creator, are you concerned that AI is training on your content?

Here's my response: I don’t care if they do.

As Seth Godin said years ago, “Your biggest threat is not piracy, it’s obscurity.” If AI trains on my content, that doesn’t erase me—it amplifies me. My ideas get woven into the larger cultural conversation. The alternative is irrelevance, and that’s far worse.

When I wrote Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World” my publisher worried because I had already posted every chapter on my blog. But it didn’t matter. People still bought the book, and it became a New York Times bestseller. Why? Because books are not just data. They’re an experience. They provide structure, authority, and a transformational journey. AI can scatter our ideas, but it can’t deliver that.

Our voice is also irreplaceable. AI can remix content, but it can’t replicate the unique synthesis of insight, story, and credibility that comes from us. People don’t just want the ideas—they want the person behind them. That’s why they’ll still buy books, attend events, and pay for the deeper experience only we can create.

I see AI not as a thief but as a distribution engine. If pieces of my work surface in thousands of outputs, my intellectual fingerprints spread further than I could manage alone. Some of those people will trace the thread back to me.

History is on our side here. Every shift in media—radio, TV, the internet—triggered fear that the old form would die. In reality, each shift expanded the audience for voices strong enough to cut through. AI is simply the next turn of that wheel.

And here’s the punchline: in a world about to be flooded with machine-written content, authenticity and authority are going to be even more scarce and valuable. A book with your name on it will matter more, not less.

So instead of fighting AI training, I see it as the best kind of free PR. My words may circulate endlessly, but only I can deliver the real experience of my work. And if AI helps more people discover me, why would I want to stop that?

"When the work is the reward, you become resilient. You are not crushed by setbacks, because the process is the prize. You are not disillusioned by success, because your satisfaction comes from the effort, not the applause." — Ryan Holiday, paraphrasing Epictetus

The ZenithMind Blueprint

I’ve been deep in my own work lately (and on an incredible vacation!), but I came across something from Rich Schefren that felt worth sharing with you.

You probably know his name — he’s been behind the scenes guiding some of the biggest names in online business for decades. Every now and then, he surfaces with something that really shifts how people think about business and productivity.

This time, he’s created what he calls his biggest breakthrough yet — a self-paced, AI-powered system he calls The Blueprint. It’s designed to help you remove your biggest success blockers in just a few minutes a day. I would definitely file this under “self-improvement”.

I haven’t seen anything quite like it, and knowing how deeply Rich thinks about this stuff, I thought it might be worth passing along.

Here’s the link if you want to take a look.
