GPT-5.1 Is Here

Hi Reader,

I’ve been testing the new ChatGPT 5.1 update this week and it’s genuinely impressive. The new personality presets (like teaching, professional, and casual) make switching tones effortless, and the memory and reasoning upgrades are a noticeable improvement. Conversations feel smoother and more intuitive across the board.

That wasn’t the only big drop. Google launched PDF Podcasts in Drive, Gemini now supports hands-free shopping with agentic checkout, and Comet from Perplexity leveled up with real multitasking. Whether you’re planning content, curating travel, or running your business, these new tools are designed to do more of the work for you — without the back and forth.

Big News of the Week

OpenAI Launches GPT-5.1 With Personality Presets

You can now instantly adjust how ChatGPT speaks using built-in presets like professional, creative, casual, or teaching mode. The update also boosts reasoning and memory, so conversations feel smoother and more consistent across chats.

Perplexity Upgrades Comet Assistant With Multitasking

Comet Assistant now performs 23% better and can multitask across browser tabs. It can navigate websites, compare job listings, plan travel, and organize data — always asking permission before taking action. It’s a clear shift toward AI that does work, not just summarizes it. But remember, be mindful of what tabs you have open in these agentic browsers. Whatever you see, it can see e.g. bank accounts, etc.

Google Drive Introduces PDF Podcasts

Google Drive is rolling out a new hybrid format called PDF podcasts — interactive files combining text, visuals, and audio. You can listen to narrated sections, flip through slides, and follow along like an audio-visual report. It’s ideal for teams sharing lessons, research, or briefings.

Google Ads Adds AI Advisor + Analytics Tools

Google Ads is getting smarter with an AI-powered Ads Advisor that recommends which assets to improve and which audiences to test. The new analytics features also surface trends automatically, so you spend less time digging through dashboards.

Google Shopping Adds Agentic Checkout With Gemini

Shopping through Google just got more hands-free. Gemini can now research products, compare prices, check reviews, and guide you through checkout. Google is also testing voice-based calling so you could confirm orders or bookings directly through Gemini.

Google Maps Adds New AI Creation Tools

Google Maps now lets you build interactive projects — like travel guides, storytelling maps, and local recommendation lists — using routes, images, and AI-generated descriptions. Great for planners, creators, and community groups.

Gemini Comes to Google TV

Google TV now includes Gemini assistance. You can search for shows, control smart devices, and ask follow-up questions using just your remote. Say things like “Show me cozy mysteries from the 90s,” and Gemini handles the curation. I don’t know what a cozy mystery is, but I do like the idea of just being able to find what I am looking for instead of having to click through a dozen streaming services!

Google Launches Private Compute for On-Device AI

Private Compute keeps AI features — like translation, smart replies, and image generation — processed entirely on your device, not in the cloud. It boosts privacy without losing functionality, part of Google’s shift toward secure AI experiences.

Opal Now Available in 160+ Countries

Opal, Google’s experimental “try new AI tools early” playground, is now available globally. People are already using it to summarize notes, automate workflows, and generate visuals — all while giving Google feedback to shape upcoming AI features.

LinkedIn Adds AI-Powered People Search

You can now search LinkedIn using natural language. Ask things like “content marketers in Austin who specialize in B2B SaaS,” and LinkedIn will understand your intent and surface highly relevant matches, even if profiles don’t use those exact keywords.

Spotify Launches AI Audiobook Recaps

Before starting an audiobook, Spotify will now give you a short AI-generated recap covering themes and key ideas. Great for nonfiction browsing or previewing long titles before committing hours to them.

Prompt of the Week

Transform Raw Content into Scroll-Stopping TikTok Scripts

Prompt:

You are tasked with transforming a video transcript or a blog post into five well-structured, engaging 30-second scripts for TikTok videos. Your goal is to create cohesive and captivating short narratives that capture viewers' attention and maintain their interest throughout each video. Here is the content you'll be working with: Follow these steps to create your TikTok scripts: Carefully read through the provided content. Identify the main topics, themes, or ideas present in the material. Organize these elements into a logical structure, creating an outline for each 30-second script. Develop a strong hook for the beginning of each video. This should be attention-grabbing and make viewers want to keep watching. Expand on each point from your outline, creating concise and engaging sentences. Ensure smooth transitions between different sections of each script. Incorporate elements that encourage viewer engagement throughout the scripts. Best practices to keep in mind: Start with a powerful hook that immediately captures attention (e.g., a surprising fact, a provocative question, or an intriguing statement). Use clear, concise language that's easy for viewers to follow. Include calls-to-action throughout the scripts (e.g., “Tap the screen if you agree,” “Comment below with your thoughts”). End with a strong conclusion that summarizes key points and encourages further engagement (following, liking, sharing). Structure your final output as follows: TikTok Script 1 [Hook] (Write your attention-grabbing opening here) [Content] (Divide this into clear sections based on your outline, ensuring it fits within 30 seconds) [Conclusion] (Summarize key points and include a call-to-action) Repeat the above structure for each of the five TikTok scripts, separating each script with a new line. Constraints: Maintain a conversational tone throughout the scripts, as if you're speaking directly to the viewer. Use the second person (“you”) to create a sense of connection and engagement. Your scripts should be thorough, engaging, and well-structured, transforming the source material into cohesive narratives that will keep viewers watching until the end. Make sure to remain consistent with the brand voice outlined below: [insert your brand voice guide here]

Hi Reader, Happy Halloween! 🎃 This week’s updates really hit a sweet spot between creativity and productivity, and I’ve been testing a lot of them behind the scenes. Claude memory is now available to everyone, Canva just launched their new “Creative Operating System,” and OpenAI quietly added company-level knowledge to ChatGPT, which is a big deal for teams managing internal data. Let me just throw in a little let's do a happy dance emoji for that one. 💃 But what really caught my attention is...
