Give ChatGPT superpowers with this free Google tool
Published 19 days ago • 7 min read
Hi Reader,
This week’s AI updates are all about making your tools feel more like teammates. ChatGPT’s Agent Mode now lets it take real action on your behalf: researching, booking, comparing, and shopping all within the Atlas browser. It’s a big step toward real, hands-free task automation. (But use with caution, as there are privacy issues!)
Over at Google, Maps just got a major upgrade with Gemini integration, meaning you can now ask for alternate routes, nearby coffee shops, or parking with natural language commands. My geographically challenged brain is very happy about this one.
And if you’re in branding or creative work, I tested a new AI experiment called Pomelli — it pulls your brand’s entire “DNA” from your website and packages it into downloadable assets you can use across tools. I found one use case for it that might surprise you.
OpenAI Brings ChatGPT to Windows and Android Tablets OpenAI just launched two new ChatGPT apps — one for Windows and another for Android tablets. The Windows app lets you pin ChatGPT to your taskbar and access it as a floating companion while working across apps or files. The Android tablet version offers a bigger workspace with memory, voice, and multitasking features.
ChatGPT Atlas Adds Agent Mode — Your New Digital Assistant OpenAI’s ChatGPT Atlas browser now includes Agent Mode, which allows ChatGPT to take real actions online — researching topics, booking appointments, shopping, or comparing products — directly inside the browser. It’s currently available in preview for Plus, Pro, and Business users and positions ChatGPT as a genuine AI agent capable of completing real-world tasks. Be mindful when using it, however. Every window you have open is visible to the browser. Your data is exposed.
Sora Expands to Android and Adds Paid Options | Character Cameos | Paid Generations Sora is now available on Android across the U.S., Canada, Japan, and more regions — no invite code required. The app includes character cameos, letting you reuse animated avatars (even from your own photos) across multiple clips to build multi-scene stories. OpenAI also added paid tiers for creators who want extra video generations beyond the free monthly limit.
Google Labs Unveils Pomelli — an AI that extracts your Brand DNA Google Labs launched Pomelli. Enter your website, and Pomelli will analyze it and create a "Business DNA" profile for your brand. By analyzing your website and existing images, Pomelli is able to automatically extract and understand your business’ unique brand identity. This profile includes your tone of voice, custom fonts, images and color palette. It will also create “campaigns” for you (although as far as I can tell, those are just Canva-style graphics. Here’s a video showing a use case you probably wouldn’t expect.
Google Maps Integrates Gemini for Smarter Navigation Google Maps now includes Gemini directly in its navigation system, bringing conversational, hands-free assistance to driving. You can ask for alternate routes, nearby coffee stops, or parking options naturally, and Gemini can summarize directions, adjust routes automatically, and read updates aloud. I can't wait to try this!!!
Google Finance Launches AI Deep Search Google Finance just added a Gemini-powered Deep Search tool that helps investors research faster. You can ask conversational questions like “Which companies had the highest dividend yield this quarter?” and get real-time data, insights, and summaries in one place — turning financial research into a ChatGPT-style experience.
Google’s AI Mode Gets Smarter With Agentic Capabilities Google’s AI Mode can now perform multi-step tasks, like booking event tickets, appointments, or local services — from browsing to checkout. The feature is rolling out through Google Labs and Pixel devices.
Perplexity AI Adds Patent Research and Getty Images Partnership | Getty Licensing Deal Perplexity AI launched a patent research tool that makes intellectual property searches conversational — you can ask questions like “Who holds the latest patents for AI-powered electric vehicles?” and get summarized, cited results. The company also announced a multi-year deal with Getty Images, giving it access to high-quality, licensed visuals for image-based answers — making AI search both more useful and legally sound.
↩️ Don’t miss out: Did you miss our last newsletter? We featured Google’s new Vibe Coding inside AI Studio — a visual way to build and test AI workflows. It combines drag-and-drop coding with AI-powered assistance, making it easier than ever for developers to create and refine intelligent workflows. Check it here!

Hi Reader, I’ve been testing the new ChatGPT 5.1 update this week and it’s genuinely impressive. The new personality presets (like teaching, professional, and casual) make switching tones effortless, and the memory and reasoning upgrades are a noticeable improvement. Conversations feel smoother and more intuitive across the board. That wasn’t the only big drop. Google launched PDF Podcasts in Drive, Gemini now supports hands-free shopping with agentic checkout, and Comet from Perplexity...
Hi Reader, Happy Halloween! 🎃 This week’s updates really hit a sweet spot between creativity and productivity, and I’ve been testing a lot of them behind the scenes. Claude memory is now available to everyone, Canva just launched their new “Creative Operating System,” and OpenAI quietly added company-level knowledge to ChatGPT, which is a big deal for teams managing internal data. Let me just throw in a little let's do a happy dance emoji for that one. 💃 But what really caught my attention is...
