GPT-5 Just Dropped.
Published about 1 month ago • 4 min read
Hi Reader,
This week’s AI updates are packed with major shifts you’ll want to know about—starting with the official release of GPT-5. OpenAI claims it’s faster, smarter, and built to handle more complex tasks with less effort. Plus, you’ll see how platforms like Reddit and ElevenLabs are evolving in ways that could reshape how we search, create, and collaborate.
I watched OpenAI's livestream here and ChatGPT-5 looks incredible. Unfortunately, I don’t have access yet…do you? They are rolling out access so here I sit, hitting refresh incessantly on my laptop!
But here’s what stands out to me from their demo:
No big dropdown menu of different models. Now, it’s all streamlined into one thing—finally!
According to the folks on the livestream, GPT-5 isn’t a minor tune-up—it’s a major leap. They claim that the responses are noticeably more accurate, it understands complicated instructions better, and the answers sound less “robotic” and more like you’re talking to a seriously knowledgeable friend.
Other claims made on the livestream:
Massively improved accuracy: Cuts down on errors by almost half compared to the previous version (and even more in “thinking mode”).
Better at following directions: It listens more closely and sticks with your requests from start to finish.
New personalities: Want your AI extra skeptical or super nerdy? Pick a preset mood to match your style.
Sharper responses: Less AI padding and fluff, more direct, helpful conversation.
Pricing:
Free users get a daily allotment, then switch to a lighter version.
Plus ($20/mo): More access and features.
Pro ($200/mo): Unlimited use, including the most advanced reasoning options.
Rollout:
Available now(ish) for Plus, Pro, Team, and Free users.
Enterprise and Education gets it next week.
All of this sounds great, BUT….I will wait to share my thoughts on its performance after I have access and have time to experiment. After reading some of the comments on this Reddit thread, I am a little worried.
ElevenLabs released an AI-powered music generator that creates original tracks you can legally use for commercial projects. This gives you an easy way to add custom music to videos, podcasts, or ads without worrying about copyright.
Reddit is redesigning its search experience to unify all content into one easy-to-use interface. This move aims to position Reddit as a go-to search engine for community-driven content, helping you find discussions and answers faster.

Hi Reader, Hello from Ibiza! I’m on a 10-day private cruise through the Balearic Islands and thanks to AI (and my amazing team), I’m able to send you the newsletter right on schedule, and deliver my regular service and content to my subscribers and clients. That’s true leverage and what I wish for everyone! As I say a lot these days, “When AI handles the mechanical, humans can handle the meaningful”. This week’s AI updates are all about giving you more control—over your tools, your content,...
Hi Reader, AI is starting to feel less like a tool and more like a teammate. Claude now lives in your browser (I don’t have access yet, but I’ve seen what it can do and it looks promising). Just keep in mind that Anthropic will begin training Claude on user data starting September 28 unless you opt out—so it’s worth checking your settings. Meanwhile, Gemini is booking restaurant reservations, ChatGPT is stepping into full assistant mode, and Google Translate now doubles as a language tutor. I...
Hi Reader, This week I had a chance to have a little fun with AI, outside of my usual business use-case experimenting...which, if I'm being honest, is also totally fun to me. I turned ChatGPT on my phone into my personal pocket IT department, I had my ChatGPT agent find a vegan banana pudding recipe and shop for (and purchase!) the ingredients, and I thoroughly enjoyed messing around with Claude Artifact's suggested use cases. Especially this one. This newsletter is sponsored by: Superhuman...
