Claude Will Train on Your Data—Unless You Say No
Published 13 days ago • 7 min read
Hi Reader,
AI is starting to feel less like a tool and more like a teammate. Claude now lives in your browser (I don’t have access yet, but I’ve seen what it can do and it looks promising). Just keep in mind that Anthropic will begin training Claude on user data starting September 28 unless you opt out—so it’s worth checking your settings. Meanwhile, Gemini is booking restaurant reservations, ChatGPT is stepping into full assistant mode, and Google Translate now doubles as a language tutor.I also gave Google Vids another spin this week—within minutes, I had a complete video using an avatar, audio, and my own script. No downloads, no friction, and yes, it’s probably already sitting in your Workspace account waiting for you.
Anthropic just launched a Claude AI Agent that lives inside Chrome. It can follow you across tabs, summarize what you’re reading, autofill forms, and even help draft responses inside web apps. Think of it as Claude embedded directly into your browsing, turning Chrome into a productivity assistant.
Starting September 28, 2025, Anthropic will begin using your chat and code session transcripts to train its AI models unless you choose to opt out. This applies to Claude’s consumer plans: Free, Pro, and Max (Claude Code included).
Opt-In vs. Default Behavior
You will see a pop-up labeled “Updates to Consumer Terms and Policies” featuring a large “Accept” button and a default toggled-on switch that permits data usage for training.
New users must make a choice during sign-up.
Existing users can defer their decision by clicking “Not Now,” but must decide before September 28
What Data Is Used?
Only new or resumed chats and coding sessions are eligible for training. Dormant or older sessions are unaffected unless actively continued.
If you agree, Anthropic will retain your data for up to five years, a significant increase from the previous 30-day retention.
Tips for Moving Forward
Read the pop-up carefully, even if the “Accept” button is tempting—especially before clicking.
If you'd rather keep your conversations private, be sure to toggle “Help improve Claude” off or navigate directly to Privacy settings.
Remember: Even if you change your mind later, data already used can’t be undone—so your initial decision matters.
Gemini’s AI Image Model Gets a Major Upgrade Google’s latest update to its Imagen 4 model makes it dramatically better at handling text in images, realistic faces, and layered scenes. You can now generate designs with readable signage, branded content, and more detailed visual compositions—something that’s been a weak spot for AI art tools.
Google Translate Adds AI-Powered Language Learning Google Translate now doubles as a personal language tutor. Powered by Gemini, it teaches vocabulary, quizzes you, and explains grammar on the fly. It’s like having a built-in Duolingo inside Translate—ideal if you’re learning a new language while traveling.
Google Search AI Mode Can Now Book Restaurants AI Mode in Google Search is moving beyond answers into action—it can now handle restaurant bookings for you. Instead of just showing results, Gemini can find availability, make reservations, and confirm details, showing Google’s push into more agent-like capabilities.
My favorite little AI darlin, NotebookLM just continues to surprise and delight us. Its generated video summaries can now play in 80 languages, making it easier to learn and retain info in your preferred language. This update makes NotebookLM far more useful for global teams, educators, and anyone working in multilingual contexts.
Meta struck a deal with MidJourney to license its AI artwork, bringing more professional, copyright-safe visuals into Meta’s AI tools. This helps you generate and share content on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads without worrying about copyright disputes.
Apple is reportedly in talks with Google to use Gemini inside a revamped Siri. If it happens, your iPhone assistant could soon get a major upgrade in reasoning, conversation, and real-world task handling—closing the gap with Gemini and ChatGPT. I’ll believe it when I see it because mostly, I think Siri is LAME.
IS AI BETTER THAN A DOCTOR?
Cornell University recently published this paper “Sequential Diagnosis with Language Models” The results are astounding. I put the paper into NotebookLM to create this short 6 minute video that I highly recommend you watch if you have any interest about what the future looks like in health care for all of us.

This Workout App Is Nothing Like the Others
About three weeks ago, I decided to finally get a personal trainer because I need to start lifting heavy weights. (Bone density, etc ya know?) The problem is, even though I have a gym membership I travel so much that it’s almost impossible to be consistent there. Plus, I don’t always want to go to the gym . But then a friend of mine told me about the Future app. And trust me when I tell you that I’ve tried all of the workout apps (and I still love and use Peloton). But this one is different. First of all, they match you with an actual human personal trainer. You tell them the style of coaching that you prefer. And you share your goals with them (my goal is strength training/heavy weights). Then they send you several trainers to pick from. Once you pick your person, the trainer sets up a FaceTime call with you and asks you a lot of detailed questions. Then they plan your custom workouts for you inside this really slick app. And each week is custom. For example, this week I’m going to be traveling and am not sure what equipment I’ll have access to, so my trainer, Joseph, created workouts that will rely mostly on my body weight. I signed up for a seven day free trial and decided to stay with them because I really like it. I noticed in the app that there’s a free guest pass. So I’m sharing that with you so you can try it out for a month (free!) (and I get a discount on my membership). Anyway, check it out if you’re looking for a training program and let me know what you think!
Found this Seth Godin quote about AI in Matt Homann’s newsletter.
“It's probably the talking dog thing, which has two parts. Part one is if you meet a talking dog and its grammar isn't very good, don't forget that it's still a talking dog. It's still a miracle. But number two is just because a talking dog said it doesn't mean it's important.”
Whenever you’re ready, here are 5 ways I can help you:
1️⃣ Join the Front Row AI Club. I'll show you exactly how to turn AI into an indispensable part of your business without the head-banging learning curve.

Hi Reader, This week I had a chance to have a little fun with AI, outside of my usual business use-case experimenting...which, if I'm being honest, is also totally fun to me. I turned ChatGPT on my phone into my personal pocket IT department, I had my ChatGPT agent find a vegan banana pudding recipe and shop for (and purchase!) the ingredients, and I thoroughly enjoyed messing around with Claude Artifact's suggested use cases. Especially this one. This newsletter is sponsored by: Superhuman...
